CEO LaShana Lewis To Be Presented with Human Rights Award
LaShana Lewis, CEO and founder of L. M. Lewis Consulting, was recently selected as one of nine recipients of the prestigious 2022 USIDHR Human Rights Award from the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights (USIDHR) in Washington, D.C. USIDHR was founded with the aim of advancing education for all and to provide solutions to enhance the understanding of the concepts of Diplomacy and Human Rights. Lewis was certified as a USIDHR Human Rights Consultant in February 2022.
“Diversity, equity, and inclusion has its basis in Human Rights,” says Lewis. “Being recognized for this work has not only strengthened my conviction, but has also proven to me that I'm on the correct path.”
Lewis has been working in the technology, diversity and nonprofit industries for over 20 years. Her company, L. M. Lewis Consulting, aims to make companies and nonprofits more equitable, technologically advanced and community-focused. Lewis serves as Chair of Opportunity@Work’s STARs Advisory Council. STARS, individuals Skilled Through Alternative Routes, are active in the workforce and have a high school diploma, but not a bachelor's degree.
Lewis sought out a Human Rights Consultant certification to become more aware of the essential human rights owed to every individual. USIDHR is focused on advancing education for all through online courses and training on human rights, human trafficking, diplomatic protocol and etiquette, and business consulting.
"Thank you for your commitment to promoting human dignity, equality, and justice," the USIDHR says in a post on Facebook. "Your work inspires us all to continue working towards a more just and equitable world." A virtual gala to honor award recipients is tentatively scheduled during Zero Discrimination Day in early March 2023. The day aims to promote equality before the law and in practice throughout all of the member countries of the United Nations.

US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights (USIDHR) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in Washington, DC. Its main purpose is to advance education for all. Through its EduforEveryChild program, USIDHR helps kids at-risk of poverty go to school by supporting their education for an entire year.
